Before it Began…

The journey didn’t begin straight away as an accountant. I was a registered teacher and taught for over 3 years, teaching high-school mathematics. Although teaching was rewarding, I felt like I wanted to do more in the public sector. As I really enjoy client contact and loved numbers I decided to pursue an accounting career.

The Beginning…

I started my accounting career as an undergraduate in a small father-and-son firm where I was filled with a bundle of knowledge. There was not the technology we have today that does everything for you. I had to learn a lot of my accounting knowledge manually. My first manager was an honest and great person who was my first inspiration of where I wanted to go in my accounting career. He was a great teacher, and being a teacher myself I knew he was good. I thought to myself, this is something I want to do!! I want to pass on my knowledge to the next generation of accountants. I found my spark!! In addition to this, I was also tinkering with the processes and systems of the firm. Despite being an undergraduate, I was able to develop some of their processes to be more efficient and effective. I really enjoyed this aspect of working in a firm and it fuelled a second passion I wanted to pursue. I wanted to go into different firms, monitor their processes and systems, and make them better. This flares a second spart and my journey began…

The Journey…

I decided to pursue my passion and left my first accounting job. I didn’t want to be part of a big top-tiered firm because I didn’t want to be pigeonholed. So, I targeted small to mid-tiered firms and I started improving these firms one at a time. I was the person that everyone leaned on when they needed help. I was patient and I did whatever it took to pass on my knowledge to others. I become a mentor in all the firms I worked in. I improved their systems and processes. I loved the fact that I could help others reach their potential, both personally and with knowledge, as well as improve each and every firm. I made my way up that ladder from the very bottom of the accounting food chain to becoming a senior manager. With a bit of heart and passion, it can be done. But that isn’t the end of my journey…

Climbing The Mountain…

Now I am back at the beginning!! I have started at the base of a mountain, and I am looking to climb it. For me, the sky is the limit. I couldn’t have come this far without the support of my family and friends. The dream to work for myself has come true. This doesn’t stop me though from providing the best service possible to all my clients.
I started my own accounting business in 2021 during the peak of COVID. I know how accounting firms work and the one thing each one of them lacked was not knowledge and resources. It was the ability to offer the client a personalised service. The number of times a client would be passed on from one accountant to another was like a merry-go-round. My philosophy is that it is about building a relationship and feeling comfortable with my clients. I want to be there each step of the way and watch your family and business grow.
